Cast iron twine/string holder (that could double as an ashtray???)

*interesting twine holder with large openings and copper insert

*Unsure of reason for copper piece and wide openings, although it seems reasonable that it could have been an ashtray??? 

*Your guess is as good as mine. I've never seen one like this, nor can I find one online. It's possibly a hard to find piece.
